Saturday saw our girls rugby league teams take to the field in the Tonie Carroll Cup for the very first time, with both our Year 8 (maroon) and Year 7 (silver) teams gaining some awesome experience.
With our girls focussing on the key pillars of communication, push, line speed and hit n stick, our coaching staff were impressed by the girls’ performances! Plenty of potential in these young ladies!
A huge thank you to former student, and Indigenous All Star Akayla McQuire, who gave up her day to spend time talking with our girls and sharing her experience. A thank you also to the parents, friends and past students who came down to support the girls.
My off field highlight for the day was the performance of our senior girls Elaina, Keisharn, River, Vanessa and Joni who spent the entire day working with our teams. These young ladies volunteered their time to help develop the next generation of our program! I could not be prouder of the family nature of these girls who today showed what sets our Girls Rugby League Program apart from the rest!
A great start for our program in 2019! Big things ahead!
