Beenleigh Lions

Beenleigh Lions Junior Rugby League Football Club (J.R.L.F.C.) was established in 1967 and become incorporated in 1969. The Club has been an integral part of junior sports for over 47 years in the Beenleigh District, being the first junior sports club in the Beenleigh area.

The club started its first season in 1967 in the Brisbane Competition until 1978. In 1979 the club then moved to the Gold Coast Competitions until 1988 when it commenced competitions again under Brisbane and Logan Districts Assn.

In 1995 with the disbanding of Logan Districts Assn the Club then joined all teams into the Brisbane Competition, this district covers areas from Beenleigh to Burpengary. As the Club continued to expand, team numbers grew from the original three teams in 1967 to 10 teams in 1987.  In 1988 it saw the expansion of teams go to 20.

At present Beenleigh Junior Rugby League fields in the vicinity of 23 junior sides U/7s to U/18s and two senior sides.

The club has co- operated in many local ventures such as the like of opening the fields and allowing the use of club equipment to assist the local schools in their competitions

All members at the club are volunteers and give freely of their time such as the coaches, first aid officers, and many more

In conjunction with Wynnum Manly and the Broncos Senior Football Clubs, they have a development program in place where players can get selected to go and have specialised training and hopefully fulfil their dreams of becoming a NRL player

Mr Mick Bowe, son Matthew and Grandson Harry, Mr Terry Gorman and Mr Wayne Gorman two of their original players from 1967 are now life members of the club and their sons are playing for the club.

The club values the work of all the volunteers, the Coaches, Managers, First Aid Officers and League Safe Officials just to mention a few of whom without their assistance we would not be able to provide the much needed support that is given to the youth of Beenleigh and surrounding areas each season.

Some of their Committee person are long term members like Charmaine Harbour (LM) who is in her 28th year at the club, most of which has been on the committee.
