In partnership with the Brisbane Broncos (NRL), Souths Logan (ISC) and NRL Development officers, our Marsden State High School (MSHS) ‘Primary School Gala Day’ occurs in Term 2 each year.
The aim of this awesome event is to both celebrate and promote primary rugby league in the Logan and surrounding school communities.
We also hope to endorse our fantastic local clubs (e.g. Logan Brothers, Waterford Demons, Mustangs, etc.) and encourage students not already signed up with a club to do so.
In our ‘Primary School Gala Day’, Year 5 and Year 6 teams of boys and girls from tens of schools, in Logan and surrounding districts, battle it out for the Broncos and Magpies Cups.
While trophies and other exciting prizes are up for grabs (See above left), the main focus of the day is on ‘having fun with rugby league’.
On this note, the NRL’s ‘Safe Play’ code is enforced by qualified match officials and teams are entered into age appropriate competition.
Not only do qualified Marsden Rugby League students referee the matches at our ‘Primary School Gala Day’, but they are also heavily involved in organisational/ operational leadership tasks for the day (See above right).
All primary students are provided with free fruit for morning tea and a delicious sausage sandwich (See above) and cold drink for lunch.
A canteen selling snacks is also available for students, parents and visiting teachers.
